The Keightly Family

The Keightlys come from a long line of hard-working Penn Staters.

Dave Jr.

Dave, Jr. attended North Penn High School, graduating in 2005. He was active in various activities, including Mock Trial and German Club. He took numbers AP courses, and did well enough that he was accepted to attend Penn State at main campus as a freshman.

Dave graduated a semester early from Penn State, in December, 2008, with a B.S. in Business Management. Dave was able to graduate early because he earned 16 credits by testing, primarily in German. He had demonstrated an outstanding aptitude for language as early as junior high school.

After working as a court reporter for the first 7 months of 2009, Dave started at Drexel Law School. Dave earned his JD in May, 2012. He studied for, took, and passed the Pennsylvania Bar Exam, and was admitted to practice law in October, 2012.

Dave had interned for the Bucks County DA’s office during the Spring semester of his third year of law school. His primary responsibility was handling preliminary hearings at various courts throughout Bucks County. He wisely joined the DA’s softball team, where he was able to get noticed as a power hitter and quick handed infielder.

Dave joined the DA’s office full time shortly after passing the bar exam, and is working very hard to protect the people of Bucks County.

In 2015 the Keightly's welcomed a new member to the family when Dave married the love of his life, Amanda. She adds yet another Penn Stater to the list in the Keightly family. She is a wonderful addition!

I'm very proud to point out that numerous well respected Judges, defense attorneys, and fellow prosecutors have all told me that Dave is doing an excellent job, is reasonable, is a pleasure to deal with, and is otherwise doing an excellent job. Good job, Dave! ~Dad

Derek

Derek Austin Keightly was born on April 14, 1993. He attended school in the North Penn District, graduating in 2011. He played on the football team, seeing significant game action in his Senior season, as the team made it all the way to the State semi-finals, losing to LaSalle in a thriller.

Derek also developed his already good writing skills as a reporter for the Knight Crier.Derek’s academic success earned him acceptance to Penn State – University Park as a freshman. He was accepted as a sportswriter for The Daily Collegian. Derek did well at Penn State, while at the same time playing Ultimate Frisbee for the club. He rose to President of the Club as a Senior.

Derek did so well at Penn State that he found himself being recruited heavily by Michigan State Law School. He is in his first year there, and is expected to graduate in 2018.

Derek possesses in abundance a number of the most important skills for a lawyer. He has excellent writing skills, superb speaking ability, and a carefully honed eye for written detail. Derek will surely benefit from a lifetime of stories about the law from his Dad, Dave, Sr., and his brother, Dave, Jr.

He has interned for his dad, getting exposure to courtrooms, defendants, police, and prosecutors. Dave, Sr. is hopeful that he will join him in practice.
